Crocosmia is a genus of perennial flowering plants in the family Iridaceae, native to southern and eastern Africa. The plants are also commonly known as montbretia.

Crocosmia plants typically grow from corms (small bulbs) and produce upright, sword-shaped leaves that form clumps or fans. From mid to late summer, they send up spikes of brightly colored, tubular flowers in shades of red, orange, and yellow, sometimes with a hint of pink or purple. Each flower stem can produce numerous flowers, which attract pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Depending on the species and cultivar, Crocosmia plants can grow from 1 to 4 feet (30 to 120 cm) tall and 1 to 2 feet (30 to 60 cm) wide. They prefer full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, and can tolerate some drought once established. Crocosmia plants are easy to grow and are often used in mixed borders, mass plantings, and as cut flowers. However, some species of Crocosmia can be invasive in certain areas, so it's important to check local regulations before planting them in your garden.
